Position Overview:


Kanmar offers its employees a positive team environment in a beautiful and tranquil home setting. There are always 2 caregivers on staff for our 5 residents. Kanmar provides an environment of compassion and caring where a resident may live with dignity and self-worth. The emphasis at Kanmar Place is to offer a superior quality of life at the end of life. Kanmar’s team offers physical, emotional, and spiritual support to the resident and their family.


The trained caregiver is a member of the residential hospice home team and works under the supervision of the manager and to perform various services for the resident as necessary to meet the resident’s personal needs and to promote comfort. A trained caregiver will act as the manager’s designee, in the absence of the manager, on a rotating basis.  The trained caregiver is responsible for observing the resident, reporting these observations to the manager and/or home RN case manager, and documenting observations and care performed.  The trained caregiver is also responsible for meal preparation and housekeeping.




  1. Performs personal care needs according to the resident’s personalized plan of care
  2. Bathing/hair washing

  3. Oral hygiene
  4. Dressing
  5. Administering medication
  6. Changing bed linens
  7. Plans and prepares nutritious meals as assigned.
  8. Assists in feeding
  9. Takes and records temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure
  10. Reports on resident's condition and significant changes to the home RN case manager.
  11. Assists in ambulation and exercise of resident.
  12. Offers and assists with bedpans and urinals. Provides assistance as assigned.
  13. Performs treatments as ordered by medical practitioner with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency.
  14. Keeps resident’s living area clean and orderly, as assigned.
  15. Respectful of resident/family/caregiver environment and resident’s personal needs.
  16. Performs housekeeping and laundry services to maintain environmental standards.
  17. Adheres to the organization’s documentation and care procedures, continuing education standards and standards of personal and professional conduct.
  18. Adheres to Casa Mission, Core Values and Job Non-Negotiables.




  1. Will have completed a caregiver training program approved by the Arizona Department of Health Services or NCIA.
  2. Holds and maintains current CPR and first aid certification.
  3. Is at least 18 years of age.
  4. Receives satisfactory references from previous employers

    Skills and Abilities Required

      1. Must have the ability to speak, write and understand English; patient care guidelines/medical instructions are written in English per regulatory standards.
      2. Is self-directing with the ability to work with limited direct supervision. Comfortable with issues of death/dying. Provides a calm manner when in a patient home.
      3. Understands hospice philosophy and is comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill.
      4. Has empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.
      5. Demonstrates tact, patience and good personal hygiene.
      6. Ability to lift, position, and/or transfer patients. Ability to lift supplies and equipment.
      7. Must possess visual acuity and hearing to be able to perform required care giving skills.
      8. Good verbal and written communication skills.
      9. Good observational skills.
      10. Good organizational and prioritization skills.
