Position Summary:

The Admissions Supervisor is responsible for supervising all aspects of the patient intake process including supervising the members of the intake team, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with customers and referral sources, responding to customer requests and concerns, and supervising the insurance verification and authorization processes.



  1. Directs all daily patient referral and intake operations including providing direct oversight of the establishment and implementation of intake policies.
  2. Ensures compliance with all state and federal referral/intake regulatory requirements.
  3. Directs the implementation of improved work methods and procedures to ensure patients are admitted in accordance with policy.
  4. Works closely with marketing department staff to establish and maintain positive working relationships with current and potential referral sources.
  5. Ensures seamless transition of patients to home care by providing direct oversight of patient education and preparation for hospice care, Plan of Care initiation, and coordination of care with multiple service providers.
  6. Ensures maximum third party reimbursement through direct oversight of insurance verification and authorization processes.
  7. Negotiates service pricing with insurance RN Case Managers and other payors within established financial and credit parameters.
  8. Assists the Executive Director/Administrator in the preparation of an annual budget for the intake department and monitors allocation of resources according to budgetary limitations.
  9. Directly supervises department staff according to company policy, sets goals and objectives, monitors/manages performance including performance reviews, and assesses staff development needs.
  10. Assures completeness and accuracy of electronic medical records related to referral and admission process.
  11. Builds and monitors community and customer perceptions of Casa de la Luz as a high-quality provider of services.
  12. Analyzes and reports referral statistics including key customer referral trends.
  13. Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of Casa de la Luz contractual relationships and ensures that patients are admitted according to contract provisions.
  14. Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of community resources and assists referral sources in accessing community resources should services not be provided by Casa de la Luz.


  1. Bachelor's degree in nursing; master’s degree in health care or related field preferred.
  2. Registered nurse with a license to practice in the state of Arizona.
  3. At least three to five years experience in health care management preferably in hospice care operations.
  4. Knowledge of corporate business management, governmental regulations, and private payor practices.

Skills and Abilities Required

  1. Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel.
  2. Ability to market aggressively and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
  3. Demonstrated excellent communications, negotiation, and public relations skills.
