Position Summary:

 

Under the direction of the Quality and Compliance Director, and in collaboration with the IT Manager, the QAPI Coordiantor uses clinical knowledge to develop and test work processes involving Casa’s EHR software. The QAPI Coordinator supports end users and serves as a resource to the Quality Assessment & Performance Improvement (QAPI) department. The QAPI Coordinator promotes delivery of superior care for patients and their loved ones according to Casa’s goals, Mission, Core Values and in accordance with state and federal regulations.

  

 

Responsibilities

  1. Plans, designs, and implements effective staff education and training programs.
  2. Participates in Casa’s QAPI Program, conducting audits and monitoring data.
  3. Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements.
  4. Coordinates the implementation of improved work methods and procedures.
  5. Responsible for reviewing and maintaining patient safety.
  6. Responsible for Hospice Item Set Abstraction (HIS) process. Completes chart review, completion of HIS records, and submission to CMS per regulatory requirements.
  7. Performs weekly timesheet audit process.
  8. Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of Casa de la Luz policies, procedures and protocols and provides recommendations for changes or updates.
  9. Reviews staff members’ documentation and provides training regarding Medicare requirements.
  10. Serves as a resource for staff, providing clinical and clinical IT support.
  11. Participates in Clinical IT call responsibilities.

Qualifications

 

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in health care or related field is preferred.
  2. Possession of current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona; license must be in good standing.
  3. At least three to five years’ experience in health care, preferably in hospice care operations.
  4. Current CPR certification.

Skills and Abilities Required

  1. Skilled in data management, analysis and critical thinking.                            
  2. Demonstrated understanding of Medicare Conditions of Participation, federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to hospice programs.
  3. Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
