    Position Overview:


    Responsible for direction and oversight of the areas of QAPI, Medical Records, IT Clinical Training, and Compliance. Provides oversight of compliance with Casa de la Luz’ policies and procedures related to the medicare conditions of participation, state and federal regulations, and HIPAA. Serves as a role model for ethical behavior and high moral standards.


      1. Oversees, coordinates, and monitors the compliance program and day-to-day compliance activities.
      2. Reports on a regular basis to the hospice’s governing body on compliance activities.
      3. Ensures that all relevant employees and management are knowledgeable of, and comply with, pertinent federal and state standards and the organization’s Standards of Conduct.
      4. Assists the hospice’s management in coordinating internal compliance reviews and monitoring activities, including annual or periodic reviews of departments.
      5. Evaluates the compliance program on a regular basis with a formal evaluation at least once a year.
      6. Participates in Casa de la Luz’s QAPI activities, providing direction to the QAPI staff.
      7. Assists in the interpretation of local and state laws and federal regulations, including the conditions of participation and HIPAA in order to develop and implement comprehensive policies and procedures.
      8. Provides direction to the medical records department to assure that all patient records, both paper and electronic, are well-organized and ensure that daily operations and actual practice conform to requirements as outlined in policies and procedures.
      9. Provides leadership in complying with regulations related to patient privacy and protected health information.
      10. Develops, coordinates, and participates in employee education to ensure that all employees receive adequate and appropriate training.
      11. Provides direction and oversight to the IT clinical training department to ensure that clinical training to the electronic medical record is comprehensive and in compliance with regulations and hospice policies and procedures. Chair the IT Clinical Subcommittee.
      12. Acts as supervising nurse of the agency in the absence of the Chief Clinical Officer.
      13. Coordinates completion of responses to requests for clinical and occasionally financial information from external agencies – Medicare, Arizona Department of Health Services, insurance providers, etc., completes final review prior to submission.




    1. Possession of current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona; license must be in good standing.
    2. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program by the National League for Nursing. Master’s degree preferred.
    3. Previous experience in hospice operations. Previous experience in healthcare compliance program management preferred.
    4. Demonstrated understanding of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to hospice programs.
    5. Knowledge of hospice operations and the flow of information throughout the hospice.
    6. Understanding of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy rights and protections.
    7. Current CPR certification.
    8. Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and an automobile in good working condition that is insured in accordance with state and/or Casa requirements. Must maintain a driving record that meets Casa/carrier requirements.
    9. Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of hospice staff and business associates.
    10. Strong planning and problem-solving skills, and the ability to design and implement effective staff education and training programs.
