The Medical Records Specialist reports to the Medical Records Supervisor and is responsible for collaborating and assisting with the work flow and tasks assigned to medical records staff.  The medical records specialist assists with the compilation and maintenance of medical records of hospice patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system.OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Hours are Wednesday-Friday, 8am-5pm. 


  1. High school diploma or equivalent, medical records certification preferred.
  2. At least two years experience in health care medical records.
  3. Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations regarding patient records.
  4. Must have strong organizational skills, as well as focused attention to detail.
  5. Demonstrates excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  6. Demonstrates autonomy, flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
  7. Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, Microsoft office applications and ability to learn new software programs.
