Position Overview:


The Accounting Specialist - Accounts Payable is responsible for the accurate and timely review and payment of invoices and for compiling and maintaining accounts payable records.








  1. Accurately enters accounts payable data into the appropriate information systems (e.g. QuickBooks, Suncoast).
  2. Receives accounts payable correspondence, verifies services provided and obtains approval for payment when needed.
  3. Assists in the preparation of weekly/monthly/annual accounts payable reports.
  4. Prints and obtains signatures on all accounts payable checks.
  5. Distributes signed checks as required.
  6. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with vendors providing goods and services.
  7. Maintains the confidentiality of patient and agency information at all times.
  8. Performs other specific projects relating to accounts payable, data entry, and computer operations as required.


  1. High school graduate or equivalent, with preference given to candidates with advanced education and/or current accounts payable certification.
  2. At least two years of experience in accounts payable practices; experience in hospice & palliative care preferred.
  3. Attention to detail and accuracy in processing invoices.
  4. Knowledge of basic medical coding.
  5. Knowledge of business office procedures.
  6. Proficient user of MS Excel and Word.
  7. Prefer working knowledge of QuickBooks (A/P) and SunCoast software.
  8. Ability to manage multiple priorities and balance work load independently.
  9. Skilled in communication (oral and written), organization, and customer service.
